The History of Absolute Vintage

♫ Getting to know us, getting to know all about us... ♫

Absolute Vintage began life by selling one-of-a-kind vintage shoes in the Nottinghill hotspot Portobello Road. We decided to help people find fresh, definitive and trendsetting pieces. Our eye-catching colourful displays meant we were noticed by the likes of Time Out, Vogue, Topshop and Miss Selfridge. We ended up having lots of mini stores across the country, under the moniker of Miss Vintage.

We decided to come over to East London to make our mark at The Old Truman Brewery’s Sunday Up-Market, when the market consisted of only a few stallholders. We all squeezed along Dray Walk by the then empty shells, now reborn as great haunts, like The Big Chill Bar and Rough Trade.

Seeing the potential in the area, we thought we'd do something more special, more permanent. We found a warehouse in the Brewery and fell in love with the place. Absolute Vintage, No. 15 Hanbury Street, opened its doors at midday on September 1st 2003.

The store gained a lot of attention from celebrities and couture designers. They loved our vintage stock and our unique accessories, sourced worldwide and handpicked for era-defining design.

Today we have two online stores (Absolute Vintage & Miss Vintage) and our current home-base store at No. 14 Hanbury Street. At our store, we have vintage items for everyone; from those who are bargain hunters, to those who want their everyday one-off vintage gear. It's a bit of a wild one, but you are guaranteed to find something thing that you‘ll 'absolutely' (sorry, we had to) love! Our online shop is similar to the big AV. We pick the best of the fashion season and make it available to everyone.

Last but not least there is the revamped Miss Vintage store. Miss Vintage offers the best of high-end vintage and is catered towards those who are looking for high-quality pieces. Including designer shoes, clothing, bags, and more...
